Just the other day, I was singing in the car with my six-year-old granddaughter. I am pretty sure you know the song: My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music. Finding myself getting choked up, I told sweet Madeleine that sometimes pretty music makes me cry. “Me too,” she said, wiping away a tear.
Many people have similar experiences: beauty, whether in the form of a pretty face, an amazing song, a fragrant flower, or a majestic landscape can be overwhelming. The diverse types of beauty may have their own distinct effects on different people. Astronomers enjoy stars; poets enjoy words; and I, well, I enjoy little things. Bugs, germs, and cells.
Honestly, I think that, if most people knew what I know, they would also enjoy what I love. So, here is my attempt at telling you all about it.
