Writing Like Crazy
2026 has launched, and so have I–into writing, that is. I’ve heard about writers who struggle to reach a certain word count. Right now, that’s not me. I struggle to stop writing in order to make meals, eat, or sleep. Why? Because The Truth Was Different is a cooperative effort between my grandmother, who passed in 1992, and me. We lived on different sides of the Atlantic, so I didn’t really know her while growing up. What I did know from what I’d heard, I didn’t like. So, yeah.
Marianne Bennink’s Books
About her five books: they’re written in the melodramatic style that was popular in those days. There’s far too much prose for today’s reader, and they could have used some editing. But the content, well, that’s mind-blowing! This ruthlessly truthful half-Jewish lady lived in an occupied country during World War II, working in an office with people who were siding with the Nazis.
No Spoilers Allowed
I’m mining the information from her now-out-of-print books to give you the whole story. I won’t tell you more, since I’ve no desire to post spoilers, but suffice it to say that I’ll be delaying publication of The Truth Was Different until late in 2026. I need to submit this ground-breaking manuscript for pre-publication reviews and accolades. Be sure to follow my blog or get my newsletters to stay up to date about progress!
