Read My Writes
Several years before retiring, Caroline began to consider what aspect she enjoyed best in all her jobs. Writing. Whether writing scientific articles, presentations, lab books, lectures, or even patents, writing is what brought her joy. She decided to take up a hobby in her retirement: writing! So began a long journey of learning the hard way. Outlining, editing, marketing, and even building a website. The good news is that now your students can learn from her–the easy way!
School Author Visits
“Mom, today I met an author, and now I understand why writing is so important.” In your dreams? Regardless, writing is vital in school and college, not to mention in most careers. The problem is that the passion for the written word is usually caught, not taught. Inviting Caroline to your elementary school classroom so she can explain a little bit about the writing process and read from one of her children’s books might make all the difference in your students’ lives.
World War II
World War II is part of the seventh-grade curriculum and is again addressed in high school World History. But dry facts rarely capture the student’s imagination, nor are they retained. True stories are so much better. Both Brave Face and Unforgivable take place in the occupied Netherlands during WWII. Students will learn what happened, what people at the time experienced, and what the aftermath of war was. Not only that, avenues will be opened for discussion of PTSD, child abuse, and more. A truly educational experience!
Science
Dr. Crocker has degrees in microbiology and virology, medical microbiology, and immunopharmacology. She has also conducted medical research, taught undergraduates, and tutored medical students. If anyone can convince your students that science is fascinating and important, it is her!

“[Unforgivable] tells the story of two brave young boys, growing up in Nazi-occupied Holland, each warring against internal and external enemies, only to see much later that, somehow, they survived and overcame the extremes of abuse, abandonment, and apathy of those that should have provided them normal protection and care… you will not only be wiser about the unsung casualties of warfare, you will be better for it.”
