Ordinary Courage
Coming in 2028
The Glue
Those who have read Brave Face are always profoundly moved by the amazing courage and love displayed by Meta’s parents. They held the family together and are the reason their children emerged as functional human beings. But they were just ordinary people, weren’t they? Maybe not.
His and Her Stories
Pappa (Cornelius Bisschop) was a premie born to a taxi driver, who died young, and a woman who put him in the oven to save his life. Seriously! He became a window washer and the provider for the family at the tender age of eleven, and got a job at the post office when he was 18.
Mamma (Augustine Weidemann) was born into a very large family in Bottrop, Germany. Her father, Michael, was a miner. Because her mother died when Augustine was only three, her sister Anna raised her. At the tender age of 14, Augustine’s father sent her to learn a trade, but she ran away and emigrated to the Netherlands at the tender age of 17.
Both Pappa and Mamma were well-acquainted with poverty, hard work, and the importance of friends supporting one another. These values made all the difference.
Wait for it!
In a book to be published by 2028, you’ll finally learn about the fires that formed this couple, see how they experienced the war, and be inspired to emulate their example.
