On Tuesday I checked the weather in preparation for my flight to Iowa–the forecast included tornados and thunderstorms. After some nail-biting, my mother and I decided to risk it. We boarded the plane to NY, quickly changed planes, and landed in Des Moines on time. It was a bumpy ride, but we arrived intact. The photo above is of the lovely view out of our hotel window.
Wednesday was spent at one of my favorite haunts–the Brass Armadillo, an antique shop with no rival. At least in Des Moines. Although I was tempted by the huge carved wood alligator and the stuffed moose head, several hours later, I left with more Delft Blue. After all, my family motto is, “You can never have enough Delft.” And it fits in the suitcase better than a stuffed head would.
Today we go to the Curiosity Shop in Pella, tomorrow to a book club, and on Saturday I’m having a huge book launch at the Urbandale library. What fun to discover that one of my colleges has been advertising the event. Thanks DMACC!
